Another medicinal herb that is widely known among the people, it is also called ramenak, titrica, ringworm, popadia, bolivach, milica-trava, milanka, gamilica, kamil-tey, kokošnjak, emperor's flower, bittersweet...
It is used almost on every continent. Ayurvedic treatment has been around for thousands of years. Chamomile is a perennial meadow plant and is very easy to reproduce and is from the Astaracae family. It is recognizable by its white flowers where the middle of the flower is distinctly yellow. It is used for the preparation of a herbal drink, i.e. tea, in the industry of cosmetics, pharmacy, food... where it is also grown in plantations. Of the several species in use, the most common are Roman chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile) and wild chamomile German chamomile (Chamomilla recutita).

It has a very pleasant smell, thanks to the essential oils (azulene) it contains, which actually contain useful substances. In addition to essential oil, chamomile also contains tannins, glycosides, bitter substances, umbelliferone, resins, vitamins B1, B2 and B3, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium and zinc.
It is most often used for complaints of the gastrointestinal system, but its use is multiple such as:
  • gastritis,
  • enteritis,
  • flatulence,
  • convulsions,
  • colitis,
  • neurodepression,
  • diseases of the uterus,
  • against skin and mucous membrane inflammation (burns),
  • for inhalation,
  • to lower the temperature...
Chamomile has good antibacterial, antiviral and fungicidal effects. Externally, it soothes inflammatory processes on the skin such as burns, wounds, bites, problems with sexual organs, for hair care...
For stomach problems, chamomile can be combined with mint and lemon balm. Chamomile tea inhalations are used for sneezing, infectious and allergic diseases of the respiratory tract, sinusitis. It can also be given to babies, because it has an extremely mild effect on the body. Chamomile tea is said to improve mood and it would be good for grumpy and listless people, as well as people suffering from insomnia.
