When we talk about radiation, we first think of radioactive radiation or nuclear waste, and that in a negative context. Is there just that bad radiation?
There is another type of radiation that now fills our entire space in which we live, and that is non-ionizing radiation that is a product of new technologies. Non-ionizing radiation is produced by mobile phones, tablets, laptops, computers, wireless internet devices (WiFi routers), base stations (antennas for telecommunications, internet...) and other electrical devices. From this it is clear that this type of radiation fills our space and every day to an increasing extent. How dangerous is this radiation? There are different theories, but recently the facts show that this type of radiation can affect people's health and is very dangerous if not used properly. The radiation of the WiFi device is at 2.4 GHz, which is very dangerous, because the microwave oven itself works at that frequency, which was concluded to give optimal results in terms of energy consumption - performance, and we know that the microwave oven works on the principle of accelerating water molecules and thus heats food. Therefore, imagine what the WiFi router radiation does to our body, which consists of 70% water, or our brain, which has 75% water, and in children it is even more pronounced, because the percentage of water in babies is even higher.
There are about 14,000 base stations in Serbia and they will increase every day, because the hunger for better technology is growing.
The biggest problem in Serbia is the lack of information and poor education in the field of the influence of non-ionizing radiation. We are uninformed that this type of radiation affects our health and the health of the environment it affects, and the education consists in the fact that those devices that are in our immediate vicinity must be used according to the regulations that tell how to reduce the harmful impact of radiation on us, that is, how to use those devices in a proper way.
These regulations are not official, but the Biogen association is fighting for them to become an integral part of many instructions for the use of these devices.
The current harmful radiation from mobile phones, laptops, computers, routers or in one word non-ionizing radiation belongs, according to the classification of the International Agency for the Study of Tumors IARC, to the 2B group which says that this radiation is a POSSIBLE cause of tumors. What many institutions and individuals are fighting over is that this radiation is classified in the 2A group as a PROBABLE cause of tumor diseases, because various independent, unofficial and official researches say that these radiations are the probable cause of the most serious diseases. One of the main problems with not speeding up these decisions is that non-ionizing radiation is very subtle and one has to be exposed for several years to show any adverse health effects.
What is devastating is that many retailers in mobile phone stores do not know how to explain what the SAR value is, that is, the degree of specific absorption or simply how much a mobile phone radiates. These values are mostly prescribed by international regulations, although they also depend on the laws of each country. The International Union of Teleoperators recommended that the SAR values be highlighted on the instructions and packaging boxes of the devices.
Serbia has had a law on protection against non-ionizing radiation since 2009, but it does not cover all relevant factors and we hope that it will be supplemented soon.
The telecommunications industry is developing and new technologies are introduced, such as 5G technology, which requires even higher speeds of information flow, and then the struggle for supremacy over the market, where unlimited talk options are given for an ever-lower monthly price, which can lead to very dangerous consequences for health due to improper use of radiating devices.
The Biogen Association strives to inform the citizens of Serbia and the region as much as possible about this topic, which is becoming more and more serious for health and ecology every day, and for this reason a conference on the impact of non-ionizing radiation was organized in Sava Center in 2015, where among other lecturers was a former member of the International Agency for the Study of Tumors, Darius Lisicki. The conference was very poorly covered by the media, because the awareness of this problem is very low in society. So far, the only project dealing with this topic was called "Electromagnetic radiation - good servant, bad master".
Another way to reduce the harmful effects of non-ionizing radiation is to use tested and certified devices for that purpose. The certificate must be issued by an institution that will use scientific methods to prove its protective effect. The Biogen Association is fighting for the adoption of regulations and criteria on the quality of such products on the territory of Serbia. For now, the only product that currently meets those criteria is QHRS Mobichip which serves to protect against non-ionizing radiation, which does not necessarily mean that the other offered products are not good, but they must pass certain certification.
One of the ways to check protective devices is the dowsing method, but it is registered in Serbia as a diagnostic method as part of traditional medicine at the Serbian Medical Society.
