The city administration of Zrenjanin violated the rights of Mr. J. from Belgrade and the residents of Belo Blat, near Tsarska Bara, because it approved Telenor to build an antenna in that protected flora and fauna reserve, Citizens' Protector Dragana Radlovački Grozdanov assessed today.
As she stated, the solution contradicts the provisions of the Spatial Plan of the city of Zrenjan, which stipulates the general conditions and principles of construction for mobile telephony networks, i.e. that the antenna cannot be built within a diameter of 30 meters in relation to residential buildings.
The City Administration failed to determine this and issued a building permit, pointed out Grozdanov, and therefore recommended the City Administration to rectify the situation.
G.J. requested the Grozdanovs in May to investigate the basis for choosing the location for the mobile phone antenna in Belo Blato, in the center of the ethnic and ecological settlement of the protected flora and fauna reserve, which is one of the well-known European centers of flora and fauna, and in addition to the vast land surrounding Belo Blato.
She asked the protector to engage in order to prevent greater and long-term damage to the inhabitants of Beli Blat and the reserve.
Radlovački Grozdanov said that the City Administration was able to eliminate irregularities during the investigation, but that her intervention remained without results.
Thus, the City Administration showed its unwillingness to cooperate, according to the press release of the Ombudsman.
