French fashion house "Smagler" has produced a suit that blocks the electromagnetic waves produced by mobile phones, it was announced yesterday.
- This would be the first time that technological materials are used for men's everyday clothes, without causing a feeling of discomfort - points out Benjamin Anin from Smuggler's research and development department.
So far, this specific type of material has been used in a rudimentary form for the clothing of professionals who are extremely exposed to electromagnetic waves, notes Anin.
The company "Smagler" worked on that material for three years, in cooperation with the XLIM Institute from Limoges, specialized in the problems of electromagnetism.
The material in question is used for jacket pockets, and threads of nickel, which does not cause allergic reactions, stainless steel, aluminum and pyrite are woven into it. This material can supposedly block 90 percent of electromagnetic waves.
The first suits with the new material will appear in the spring-summer 2013 collection of the company "Smagler".
