Innocente Marcolini, whose face is partially paralyzed, said that his trigeminal nerve tumor was the result of using mobile phones for six hours a day during 12 years of working with clients from China and other countries.
The defense brought in doctors who testified that excessive use of cell phones increases the risk of such tumors.
Numerous major scientific studies have failed to find a link between cell phones and brain tumors. The World Health Organization classifies mobile phones in the category of "possible" carcinogens, which includes pesticides and coffee.
