The influence of the Sun, atmospheric radiation and ions on the Earth and the living world
From the earliest times, man felt the heat and light rays of the Sun, recognizing its decisive influence on vegetation, atmospheric conditions and rhythms on Earth. Space research and scientific studies confirm that solar activity and planetary radiation directly affect the magnetic field, climate and biology of the living world.
Solar cycle, radiation and atmospheric changes
The Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius established an 11.5-year cycle of increased solar activity, during which there is a disturbance of the earth's magnetic radiation, the creation of polar lights and changes in air pressure that affect the formation of storms. According to his research, solar eruptions in the corona throw out tiny charged particles that move at high speed through airless space towards the Earth and the planets (like Mars, whose secondary radiation reaches a power of 1000 megawatts).
Upon entering the atmosphere, these particles break down into small ions that serve as condensation nuclei for the formation of clouds. Between the surface of the Earth and the ionosphere (at a height of 50 to 80 km) there is a stationary electric field of the negatively charged surface of the Earth, whose strength under normal conditions is 100 to 200 V/m, although it may occasionally vary or temporarily change polarity.
The influence of ions on the organism and correlation with natural phenomena
Research shows that negative ions (such as oxygen molecules and fine water droplets) benefit humans and animals, while positive ions (such as carbon dioxide and dust) have a negative effect. American scientist Dr. Hansel noticed that the production of negative ions in people causes good mood and cheerfulness, while positive ions encourage sadness and inactivity.
Statistical links between solar activity and natural disasters
The strong activity of the Sun is reflected in numerous terrestrial phenomena:
- Annual tree rings: The thickness of the trunks on giant trees (like 3000 years old Sequoia gigantea) was significantly higher in periods of pronounced solar eruptions.
- Health phenomena and epidemics: The Russian scientist Tsevski connected solar activity with smallpox epidemics, and more recently, the connection with flu, a jump in the number of suicides and a statistical increase in diseases during eruptions has been observed.
- Technical and geological disturbances: Disruptions in telephone connections, earthquakes, typhoons and volcanic eruptions often accompany geomagnetic storms.
Also, Dr. Willibald Undt pointed out the existence of electromagnetic waves in the 10 Hz range (so-called "atmospheric") that favorably affect the operation of cells, while in the space between the Earth and the ionosphere, due to the discharge of about 600 lightning bolts per second, resonant oscillations are created that affect the weather.
