Basic principles of dowsing: Radiation and field phenomena
The entire dowsing practice is based on the phenomenon of radiation that is present everywhere in nature. Every living being, plant, as well as seemingly inanimate matter such as rocks, ores and minerals, emits its own energy. Even thoughts, emotions and sensory perceptions represent specific forms of radiation.
Ubiquity of radiation and scientific approaches
There is no absolute rest in nature. Inside each atom, regardless of whether it is a solid, liquid or gaseous state, the movement of electrons around the nucleus and polarization processes are constantly taking place. Radiation comes from the ground and from the atmosphere in various forms, indicating that the entire planet is imbued with energy.
Research into these phenomena goes deep into the past. From the study of the motion of forks by Kirchner (in 1631), through the analysis of the plumb line by Chevrel in front of the French Academy of Sciences, all the way to Professor Heime's explanation of electric oscillatory circuits. In modern times, with the rapid development of nuclear physics, there are also attempts to explain dowsing radiation using free electrons. Although to this day there is no measuring instrument that would give a final judgment about which theory is completely correct, the propositions put forward by Abbé Mermet (1866–1937) proved to be extremely suitable for explaining the phenomena in the field.
During his forty years of study, Mermet established that the radiation of the object passes through the observer's body (most often entering through the right leg), moves to the hands and thus activates the instruments. Each such radiation creates a field of action that normal human senses cannot detect. The field expands in all directions around the observed object, and different elements and manifestations can be observed in it.
Elements of dowsing field
Around each subject that is examined, specific phenomena are created that can be classified into twelve basic elements:
- Magnetic forces: They manifest as parallel lines around watercourses. Most often, seven lines are detected on both sides of the flow, which gives a total of fifteen sections of cylindrical bodies. If water emerges vertically, seven concentric circles are formed around it, of which the fourth and seventh are crucial for locating underground water.
- Basic radiation: Every body at rest emits radiation at a constant angle to the north and at a constant inclination to the horizontal. The length of this radiation depends on the mass of the body and the type of material.
- Mental radiation: Radiation that establishes a connection between the object and the viewer's brain. It is always present, except during specific atmospheric disturbances. It is believed that man functions exclusively as a receiver and not as an emitter of this radiation, which is indicated by the comparison of the human eye with a photographic camera that only absorbs light.
- Light radiation: It comes from any light source (Sun, electric lamps, candles). It was discovered that a dowsing radiation is always intertwined with the light rays, which is reflected when it comes into contact with the magnetic surface of the examined body.
- Radiation of matter (test radiation): Each body communicates by radiation with other bodies of the same material. If a metal object is lost, placing samples of the same metal in the area will create a grid of sections. Visak reacts exclusively to the radiation of similar materials.
- Vertical column: It is present above and below every object, but only in conditions of stable atmospheric conditions. In bad weather, this column dissipates into confusing magnetic reflections.
- Dowsing reflections: In stormy weather or extremely strong sunlight, false images are created that "dance" around the object. Experienced analysts can extract useful data from these appearances, such as depth or water capacity, similar to studying a reflection in a mirror.
- Oscillation numbers and directions: Each material has its own "code" in the form of the number of oscillations and circles that the pendulum makes. For example, copper and water both give the number seven, but are separated by the angle of the base radiation (45° southwest for copper, 30° northwest for water). Each practitioner can establish his own angles and numbers over time, provided he applies them consistently.
- Spirals: When analyzing the basic radiation, the pendulum often begins to perform specific spiral movements that resemble circular stairs.
- Shapes and figures: If the terrain above the hidden object is explored, the instrument will paint the exact contours and shape of the buried body on the surface.
- Instrument weight changes: During work, there is a subjective feeling of a change in the weight of the pendulum. When searching for energy sources, it can seem much heavier, while in certain situations, such as the diagnosis of more serious health conditions on a certain part of the body, the pendulum can seem weightless, as if a person were holding only an empty thread.
- Fading: As with the reception of radio waves where the signal inexplicably weakens and strengthens, a similar phenomenon occurs when using a plumb bob. This effect causes the instrument to work flawlessly for a few minutes and then stop working completely. It has been noted that fading most often occurs immediately before sudden atmospheric changes or strong seismic activity (earthquake). Occurrences generally last one to two hours, and if they last a whole day, they often coincide with major disasters caused by changes in the Earth's magnetic field.
Methods to mitigate fading
Although it is strongly recommended to stop all important research work when fading occurs in order to avoid wrong conclusions, three methods for its neutralization are mentioned in the professional literature:
- Pointing the left hand in the direction of the Sun with a raised finger or pointed object.
- Constantly adjusting the length of the thread, passing the thread through the fingers until the pendulum stabilizes the movement.
- The use of a much heavier plumb line that rises to a higher height where the fading effects stop working.
